12 months of commuting: Photographs throughout a very British year!

February 2018 Update

Andy put together this 3-minute edit from his Cycliq Fly12 on-bike camera from the commute home at the height of #snowmageddon!

For issue 12 of Simpson Magazine, Andy was asked by the team to describe his last 12 months of commuting to work every day.  Whilst there are plenty of articles of how best to tackle the commute to work, the idea behind the article was his personal story and experiences that you will certainly enjoy if you take the time to read it in issue 12.

We all cycle to work every day (ok - Andy sometimes runs!) so although this is all about the last 12 months, we've been doing it for a while and intend on carrying on!

To compliment the words, Simpson Magazine employed the talented Sean Hardy to photograph Andy one day along the way to work.  Whilst he normally averages around 15mph on his way to work on the 8 mile route, that day it took him over three hours to arrive into work!

This article contains a YouTube video and some photos that Andy took himself throughout the year - giving you a feel of his route described by Simpson Magazine as quite possibly the best commute in the world!

We've had a few tweets about how this was produced - well here goes!  The Prendas marketing budget doesn't stretch to a big-name brand sports cam & Andy's very happy with using a APEMAN A70 14MP 1080P Action Camera attached to his bike via a cheap and simple bracket.  The raw videos were then imported into iMovie, edited down and the maps and titles (1920 x 1080 pixels) were created in Adobe Photoshop.

Commuting to work is fast enough to get you there on time, yet slow enough to see how you got there. It's the same old route most days but occasionally you see something that stops you in your tracks.

Despite the picturesque route, I do see some pretty unsightly graffiti however I like this piece near Poole Train station.
